Our Story
Hello From Sandy Basin Farms! We are located in the Uncompahgre Valley of Western Colorado, with mountains all around us. We are a small family farm and we work hard to grow popcorn for your popping pleasure.
I'm Bron and along with my wife Rhoda and our three growing boys, ages 9, 7, & 4 we are glad to meet you and welcome you to try our products!
We decided to grow a couple rows of popcorn in our garden about eleven years ago just for us,as we enjoy popcorn and our business has slowly grown from there, At first we picked, husked and shelled it all by hand but now we use a small tractor and a one row corn picker for our NON-GMO popcorn. Our corn is insecticide free and as it is sorted by hand you may find a worm-eaten kernel here and there in your popcorn seed, but since your corn is heated to a high temp to be popped you do not need to worry about that. We are continually trying to improve our processing system so any feedback from our customers on your likes or dislikes is also appreciated! Our climate is excellent corn growing weather with our warm days and cool nights but we could not do it without water. After being picked our corn is husked, shelled , cleaned, & bagged by hand or small machine.We are also trying new varieties to see if there is more that we can grow to give you our customers more options to enjoy. Our Ladyfinger is most enjoyed for snacking on and is basically hulless when popped and so crunchy and fresh! So go ahead and try it and see what you think and let us know!
